Tyre Labelling

Since 1st November 2012, all tyres have come with a label stating their performance on fuel efficiency, on wet roads and in road noise, with the tyre being rated from A-G (A being the highest, G being the lowest). 

Fuel efficiency
Tyres rated 'A' will be the most fuel efficient: the more efficient the tyre, the more money you can save.

Tyre's performance
Tyres rated 'A' will perform better in wet conditions, meaning shorter stopping distances and less chance of aquaplaning.

Road noise
Road noise is scaled by a diagram of sound waves, as well as an accompanying decibel level:
  • A tyre labelled with three waves is the loudest
  • A tyre labelled with two waves is at an average level
  • A tyre with a single noise wave emits very low noise
